The Nature of Reality
I got some more goodies today. =D Simple Things and When it Falls by Zero 7 arrived from Amazon today, along with the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack for dad. I'm very excited since I absolutely love Zero 7, and this is the first step towards making my music collection a little more legitimate. As for work, I had a good day. Despite forgetting my glasses this morning plus a long shift, I ended the day on a high note and had fun. Having friends rocks, and so does running into interesting customers. The next two days I have off, which is going to be awesome. Lots of cooking and playing of video games is going to occur. =D Oh, and did I mention the weather was absolutely GORGEOUS today? The temperature was easily in the 70's. I actually spent my last break napping outside in the sunshine. Awesome. I can't believe it's actually December!

The Nature of Reality
Guess who discovered that the demos for both of the new Tomb Raider games would work on her lousy old computer... =D

I am one happy kid right now. It's been over four years since I last played a Tomb Raider game and I was deeply unhappy about it. While a demo will never be as good as a full length game, it was still really, really nice to have Lara back. Everything was perfect. (Though the control system in the "Anniversary" demo probably would have caused a less patient/Lara obsessed player to rip their hair out in sheer frustration) The graphics were gorgeous. Lara looks amazing, and the physics are SO realistic. I got to know Lara when she side stepped (I do miss that, btw) and boxes could only be moved from one square of the grid to another. Now, though, you can literally spin a box around in a total circle, drag it onto things at an angle, (shocking!) and they even look like they have a certain amount of weight. It's awesome. Oooh, and what a trip back in time Anniversary was. For the second time in my life I got into a gun fight with dinosaurs! ^_^ And I even had to make a stop at Stella's to help me out when I got stuck on where I should go next during the Anniversary demo. Ahh, good times. I miss visiting Stella's and downloading her save games to get me out of a tight spot. Her site looks absolutely amazing these days. I really should send her a thank you e-mail...

Unfortunately when I wasn't blissfully losing myself in nostalgia I kinda crashed my dad's computer, which he's not going to be terribly happy about when he gets home, but what's done is done. Figures. I actually did my level best to leave everything he had running alone, but of course Firefox just HAS to say "it's time for an update!" while I'm in the middle of looking up walkthroughs (because the demos don't have a save game function) and my cunning plans all went out the window. Hopefully he won't be too cranky about it. *sigh* I hate it when you do your best to do the right thing and get screwed anyhow.

And that's pretty much all I did today. =D Tomb Raider and crashing my dad's comp. Oh, and chores, but that's nothing new. I managed to take some very nice screen shots during my demo-ing, so I think I'll do like I did in the "good old days" ('cause I'm totally old enough now to HAVE good old days, pfft yeah right) and make myself some Lara LJ icons. ^_^ Fun!

Well, I have officially inspired layout jealousy within my father. He thinks my blog (and my website) is prettier than his. =D But I will infest his computer and help him make his pretty, too. Hi dad! *wave*

I have also been extremely bad with my writing of late. I hang my head in shame! SHAME, I say!! XP I have done almost no writing on the novel whatsoever for almost three days now. Yes I got some backstory filled out. And yes, I got some more ideas put into my story idea bible. But it's not the same. On Wednesday, I went crazy and I spent the entire day cooking and plugged into Food Network. =D It was fun! I made myself yogurt, hummus, oatmeal, teriyaki tofu cubes, as well as a stir fry for dad featuring teriyaki marinaded steak, and some sandwiches...as you can imagine I was pretty exhausted. So no writing that day. And yesterday I just kinda felt "blah" and ended up watching a lot of TV (Quantum Leap episodes! yay! ♥) So no writing there, either. Well, except for the backstory and story idea. (Brushing one's teeth is surprisingly inspirational) And that brings me to today, in which I am going to make an effort to stay off of Gaia and try and get about 5,000 words done today to make up for all the time I've missed. (Plus I really think it's awesome when I'm able to write that much in one day) Should be doable, since I'm coming up on yet another battle scene. This is also the part of the book where the plot takes a sharp turn and throws a lot of the different characters into chaos, as well as revealing their true natures. Ought to be pretty interesting. XD ...even though I'll probably have to edit it all out in the second draft of the book. Oh well.

And hey! It's another beautiful day here in Tennessee! Little birds singing everywhere...flowers blooming...sun shining...a warm breeze blowing. ^_^ Very nice. Need to refill the birdfeeder, though.
