Guess who discovered that the demos for both of the new Tomb Raider games would work on her lousy old computer... =D
I am one happy kid right now. It's been over four years since I last played a Tomb Raider game and I was deeply unhappy about it. While a demo will never be as good as a full length game, it was still really, really nice to have Lara back. Everything was perfect. (Though the control system in the "Anniversary" demo probably would have caused a less patient/Lara obsessed player to rip their hair out in sheer frustration) The graphics were gorgeous. Lara looks
amazing, and the physics are SO realistic. I got to know Lara when she side stepped (I do miss that, btw) and boxes could only be moved from one square of the grid to another. Now, though, you can literally spin a box around in a total circle, drag it onto things at an
angle, (shocking!) and they even look like they have a certain amount of weight. It's awesome. Oooh, and what a trip back in time Anniversary was. For the second time in my life I got into a gun fight with dinosaurs! ^_^ And I even had to make a stop at
Stella's to help me out when I got stuck on where I should go next during the Anniversary demo. Ahh, good times. I miss visiting Stella's and downloading her save games to get me out of a tight spot. Her site looks absolutely amazing these days. I really should send her a thank you e-mail...
Unfortunately when I wasn't blissfully losing myself in nostalgia I kinda crashed my dad's computer, which he's not going to be terribly happy about when he gets home, but what's done is done. Figures. I actually did my level best to leave everything he had running alone, but of course Firefox just HAS to say "it's time for an update!" while I'm in the middle of looking up walkthroughs (because the demos don't have a save game function) and my cunning plans all went out the window. Hopefully he won't be too cranky about it. *sigh* I hate it when you do your best to do the right thing and get screwed anyhow.
And that's pretty much all I did today. =D Tomb Raider and crashing my dad's comp. Oh, and chores, but that's nothing new. I managed to take some very nice screen shots during my demo-ing, so I think I'll do like I did in the "good old days" ('cause I'm totally old enough now to HAVE good old days, pfft yeah right) and make myself some Lara LJ icons. ^_^ Fun!
