Hahaha.
This is the best site ever. XD I feel so geeky now. I have been having WAY too much fun at the
Good Eats Fan Page, which I found the other night while searching for information on Alton's new show,
Eating Asphalt. (I saw the advertisements on FN and nearly imploded in a cloud of fangirlish glee) Most of my time has been spent on the Alton Brown fan page specifically. The interviews are just delightful, as well as informative. I've learned some really interesting things about the inner workings of the show, how it's put together, and that AB treats his interns just as well as everyone else does. XD Also, it's nice that the owner of the site isn't creepy. (In fact, he's quite professional about the whole thing) I don't like creepy Good Eats/Alton fans. They're, well...creepy. =P And I don't like all the "fans" who gripe and complain about this episode, or that sound effect, or the premise for that episode. Either you like the show or you don't. If you don't, shut up. (This shouldn't be too hard since you probably don't have that many neurons to work with anyway) If you do, be like me and fail to notice such small trivia because you are too busy giggling at Alton's excellent jokes and recreating his excellent cooking techniques in your kitchen. ^_^
I do have a small bone to pick with AB, though. He has not updated his website in
forever. Normally this would not be a problem, but I cannot find any other source of recently updated information on his show, his promised podcast, where he will be, and what his new show is about. (And, most importantly, since it's an "on the road" show, will he be coming to Tennessee?) Additionally, I miss his blog! I liked reading it. A lot. And I got to see pictures of the Waffler. How is that not awesome? I really miss it. Though I swear, if I ever find the people who sent him those evil images when he asked for pictures of people's fridges...there will be a confrontation of Cap'n Mal proportions. Not only did they eliminate my chances to send in pictures of my fridge, but they traumatized the psyche of my favorite Food Network personality. That is NOT acceptable. I have a martial arts video cast in my iTunes and I will use it! ...if I ever meet them. Which is unlikely. But it could happen!
Lest you think I spent the entire day giggling over AB interviews...that was yesterday, not today. (I was up until nearly 1am...*blush*) I swear that today, I only lost three hours of my life into the fan page. XD Despite the fan page's best efforst to distract me, I was not deterred from my writing! I actually met my 2,000 word quota today. And it was mostly not crap, too, which was nice. I've put off writing on my novel for almost two weeks now, and that's got to stop. How can I call myself a writer if I don't do any writing? Exactly. The folks at the ISBW forums helped me out a lot, too, especially SelfAbsorbed. They're so friendly over there. =D I'm still giggly over the voicemail I sent. Not only did it get played on air, but it actually inspired Mur to work on a new piece of fiction, and my question actually became a challenge for the listeners to achieve. Needless to say I was very surprised at this, and absolutely gleeful that my comments could help someone else in any way. I was going to send a voicemail to Dragon Page Wingin' It today...but I kinda forgot. Then I listened to their most recent voicemail show and Michael was doing a lot of complaining about how much v-mail he's gotten, so I think I'm just going to skip that for now. Maybe another time. To be honest I was kind of put off by the way they treated some of the voicemail they got, cutting them off before they finished or outright insulting the person who sent it. Obviously it's their show, they have the right to whatever they want, and they were all pretty smashed...but geez. Somebody took the time to do that. It's not their fault your format is so inefficient that it can't accomodate that many v-mails. Maybe instead of telling your listeners to shut up, you should tell Evo to shut up? Not overall, but just a little bit here and there. Seriously, if you could shut him up at least 15% of the time, you'd probably be able to play all the voicemails twice over and still have time to spare. Once again, an example of a good show that got too popular and hosts who are either too busy, too lazy, or too disorganized to do anything to cope with the sudden flux of popularity. They're evading reality, and I was greatly disappointed in one of my favorite podcasts today. They did not impress me at all with their behavior, and as such I did not send them a voicemail today as I had planned. Nor do I think I will send them a voicemail of any kind until I see improvement.
Well, that's pretty much all from me today. ^_^ Y'all wish you had my weather. XD Tennessee rocks!
